What’s certain in this world is that nothing is ever certain!
We suddenly got the alert that the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA), the ones that manage the Highland Lakes dam releases etc, announced that they will be lowering Inks Lake beginning October 1st in order to give property owners the opportunity to remove debris, dredge, and work on docks, retaining walls and other infrastructure.
We are forced to change race sites for Friday’s (10/24) swim due to the dangers of unknown obstacles as well as the fact that the lower water level will make it impossible to launch necessary safety/transportation vessels (boats).
We are, however, able to provide a similar distance, point-to-point course, in Spicewood on Lake Travis, near Spicewood. And, we’re excited about this! It’s a great course :
For planning purposes, it might help to know that Friday’s race site will be near the Spicewood Airport which is an approximate 35-40 minute drive to the next day’s start site in Kingsland at Valentine Lakeside. We hope you will consider the Valentine Lakeside for your weekend lodging needs. As well as being wonderful hosts, they are well-equipped with kitchen apartments and grocery nearby.
